Trigger warning: alleged #DVMurder
On 16 May 2025, a 23-year-old Afghan woman was killed west of Brisbane.
Police allege she was murdered by her husband and his brother, with her two young children present, at their home in Springfield Lakes.
Muzhda’s life may have been snuffed out by a brutal act of violence, but there is a growing community of supporters determined to ensure she is never forgotten, and that her children receive the support they deserve.
One woman is killed in Australia every week. In May 2025, twice as many women were killed by men.
This has to end, because enough is enough.
Funds raised here will go towards Muzhda’s funeral, and anything raised beyond that will be committed to her two young sons who are currently placed in foster care.
Muzhda’s supporters on the ground include community advocates Rita Anwari and Mujtaba Assghari, and media advisor Rhea Abraham.
Together, they are committed to:
1. Ensuring Muzhda’s family in the UK are supported to gain guardianship over her two sons;
2. Ensuring Muzhda’s children are not returned to Kabul, Afghanistan, to be governed by the Taliban, and
3. Sustained and impactful advocacy to end violence against all women.
You can follow our journey to justice for Muzhda by following Rita Anwari and Rhea Abraham on LinkedIn, Facebook or Instagram.
Thank you for your support. We need all the help we can get.
