Help Jordan live @ Erik's Retreat

My name is Jordan. I’m 20 years old and live in Largo Florida. When I was a little boy, I was diagnosed with Autism. Ever since then, I’ve worked hard in school and my family has helped me alot but I really want to learn to live more on my own. I will need help though. I am a singer and I really enjoy performing but I have a hard time with some things like math, writing (my dad is helping me write this) and understanding some things. So sometimes life is really frustrating for me. Also, like many others with autism, I have a real hard time making friends. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want friends. I really do! There just aren’t very many programs available to someone like me because I’m out of high school and am not going to college. But I think I found a place that can help me with friends and with achieving my goal of singing.
Well, I found a place in Minnesota that is for adults like me. It is called Erik’s Ranch and Retreat and it’s a place where people with special needs go to live and work. They teach you how to live on your own and, here’s the best part - they help you with your life goals - including helping me find singing gigs and other jobs. It really seems like it is the perfect place for me to live. Earlier this year, they asked me to sing at their annual fundraising party. They really liked my performance. The people at Erik’s are really nice and they would really like me to live there and be part of Erik’s.
As I said, I love to sing. And I’m pretty good at it. I really love the styles of Michael Buble and Frank Sinatra so jazz and big band is the type of music that I sing. I even entered a few competitions. I was a finalist at Largo Teen Idol in 2014 and that was really fun. This year I actually won the Largo’s Got Talent competition! I even got to sing at my piano teacher’s wedding. I would like to sing for a job but it’s hard for me to find new gigs. My dad made me a web site. Check it out at: www.jordanmichaelstudios.com Recently, I have started singing at an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) near my home. They really like it when I sing the old jazz standards. It makes me feel good to see the residents smiling and dancing along to my singing. I also work at Publix, which is a grocery store. Sometimes when I’m getting grocery carts from the parking lot, I sing random songs for practice. Some of the customers call me the singing grocery store clerk!
Living at Erik’s is expensive, it will cost around $3,000 - $4,000 a month. I will find work to help pay for my rent and my family would like to help but they can’t afford very much. We are going to try Erik’s Ranch and Retreat for a three or four months to see if it’s a good place for me. So, in order for me to live there, I need your help to raise $10,000. The money will help pay for me to move up to Minnesota, buy some furniture and help pay for the cost of living at Erik’s. If you can contribute even a little bit, I am very thankful. I promise to let you know how things are going with my singing career and everything.
