**Fundraising for Scott: A Journey of Resilience and Hope**

Hello, my name is Melissa, and I am reaching out on behalf of my younger brother, Scott, who has endured a long and challenging battle following a life-altering accident.

On St. George's Day in 2021, while out with friends celebrating our national day, Scott stepped off a curb and suffered a seemingly simple injury — a broken leg (open fracture of the tibia and fibula). What should have been a routine procedure to fix the break with a metal rod and pins quickly turned into a prolonged nightmare.

During the operation, Scott’s nerve was damaged, leading to a complete loss of sensation and movement in his right foot for an entire year. As he began to regain feeling and follow the instructions to put pressure on his leg, excruciating pain set in, preventing him from walking. An X-ray revealed that the rod had not been properly inserted, and it was loose, causing the bone to heal incorrectly.

Another operation followed, this time involving a procedure where the leg was broken in half and stabilized with a metal hexagonal frame. While the swelling subsided, it became apparent that Scott’s foot had twisted significantly — three inches to the left. Despite his concerns, the surgeon reassured him that the frame adjustments would straighten the foot over time. However, after nine months of no improvement, Scott’s foot remained deformed, and a further operation was performed to replace the hexagonal frame with a circular one.

Throughout this ordeal, Scott’s pain continued to worsen. Over the next year, his leg developed severe infections, leaking bright orange pus from the pin sites. Despite his ongoing suffering, the surgeon downplayed the situation and prescribed antibiotics, sending Scott home. As time went on, he found it increasingly difficult to walk, and he was unable to engage in simple, everyday activities — like spending time with his son at the park.

Finally, a painful lump formed on his leg, leading to a rushed hospital visit where the infection was confirmed. On December 16th, Scott underwent the most difficult procedure of all: an amputation of his leg.

This tragic journey has been a constant struggle for my brother, physically, emotionally, and financially. As he begins the painful process of adjusting to life after the amputation, we are seeking your support to help him regain his independence and improve his quality of life.

Any contributions, no matter how small, would make a world of difference. The funds will go towards medical expenses, prosthetics, rehabilitation, and support as he navigates the next chapter of his life.

Thank you for your compassion and generosity. Your support means the world to us as we help Scott rebuild his life.
