UPDATE: Thank you to those of you that have contributed to Yolanda's fight to beat cancer! I appreciate you more than you know.
We were just made aware of the fact that when the doctor was doing surgery on Yolanda's vertebrae, they did find cancer in her spine as well. Of course, she is very concerned but not worried. She knows that God has her and His will be done.
If you can find it in your heart and are able to help my sister-in-law, please donate to help the most thoughtful and caring person I know!
THANK YOU!
I am Pam Menjivar and married to Ricardo Menjivar. This past week, my husband's sister Yolanda Menjivar (77 yrs) received some devastating medical results.
Yolanda is probably one of the healthiest people I know. She is always smiling, has never had to take any medication and eats healthy. Every day she takes a morning walk before starting her day. She typically does take a short rest in the afternoon. Last week, she laid down for her rest and when she was ready to get up, she found that she could not sit up. She ended up calling her daughter to come and help her. The following day, she went to the doctor and they took exrays and a MRI. They discovered that there was a crack in her 8th vertebrae.
As the reviewed the extra's, they noticed that there was a mass on her lung. She did not have any symptoms that there was anything wrong. She has never smoked a day in her life or drank alcohol.
Surgery was scheduled for this past Monday to fix the cracked vertebrae. That surgery was successful. Yesterday she had surgery again to get a biopsy of the mass on her lung. Once the doctors were able to see the mass, they discovered that it was a malignant tumor and had spread to the Lymphatic System and to her ribs. This is devastating news for the family!
Yolanda has 3 grown children and several grandkids. My husband is so close to this sister. They grew up together and Yolanda took care of him when things would be rough.
Yolanda used her savings to get the surgeries done quickly and will now have to begin chemo treatments.
I am asking for help in getting the treatments that Yolanda needs now.
Yolanda's faith in God is strong and she knows that He will be with her throughout the next journey.
Yolanda and her family appreciates any donations and help that you are able to provide. Please help my sister-in-law navigate her new reality. The family thanks each and every one of you!
