Help a queer couple escape a bleak future in Texas

Hello, my name is Ximena. I am a trans woman living in Texas with my partner, Olive, who is non binary. For the last year and half, I have been on hormones through a private company as part of my medical transition. Having access to HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is life saving, and with Tr*mp back in office, I fear that access is in immediate and dire danger.

Losing access to my medication is life threatening, because, as many know, dysphoria is life threatening. Before I started hormones, every day was a painful struggle to get through. I was deeply unhappy and felt that I had nothing to live for. When I got prescribed my medication, I felt a world of possibilities open up in front of me. I felt different from day 1, and since then, every day has been better than the last. In the year since I started taking medicine to treat my dysphoria, I have built a life that I love, I feel excited for my future for the very first time in my life, and look forward to each new day as a chance to express myself and be together with our little family (my partner and our pets, Arnie, the kitty, and Dex, our pup).

But all that changed when we woke up on the morning of 11/6. Its no secret that the republican party wants to block access to HRT even for adults who are transitioning in order to forcibly maintain a gender binary that better serves their agenda, and Texas, as a long time, deep red state with its history of regressive conservatism and hateful discrimination, is poised to enable the incoming administration to do just that. Please don't let the state forcibly detransition me.

We are asking for $10,000 in emergency funds to help cover costs including travel, as well as application, administrative and deposit fees and up-front payments, as well as a small safety net as we get our bearings and try to find work so that we can escape Texas before inauguration day on 1/20/2025. As we attempt to make a very short-notice and sudden relocation of our lives from Dallas, Texas to Chicago, Illinois, we will be starting over our life again and rebuilding from the ground up. The state we love does not love us back, but with your help, we can make a new home in a place where we have a better chance of being loved, seen, and accepted for who we are.
