I’m fundraising to help cover the unexpected veterinary costs for my beautiful cockatiel Cookie, who today had to undergo emergency surgery after becoming egg-bound which can quickly become life threatening.

Cookie has been part of our family for six years. We adopted her after she was found having been attacked by native birds, and from the beginning, she has been such a sweet, gentle little girl. She has her own personality and boundaries — she isn’t a fan of hands, but she will happily step up onto her little stick to be carried around. It’s one of the many things that makes her so special to us.

Last year, we sadly lost Nanna and welcomed her cockatiel, Dottie, into our flock. He and Cookie have since become our little lovers, and it’s been so sweet watching them bond. ❤️

Cookie is such a loved member of our family, and seeing her go through this has been incredibly stressful. Her veterinary estimate is currently between $3,082.95 and $3,743.25, depending on the care she needs during hospitalisation and recovery.

I’ll be doing everything I can to cover Cookie’s treatment, but the unexpected costs are a lot to manage. Any contribution, big or small, would mean so much and help ease some of the financial pressure while she recovers.
