Help Welcome Home Rowland

After nearly 30 years in prison, our friend and Parole Preparation Project  community member Rowland Davis will be coming home! He will be released by Monday, November 2nd, so we are asking our communities to come together to give Rowland some funds to start his new life back in NYC. Rowland will initially be residing at The Fortune Society  and is fortunate enough to have an abundance of support from his family, John Jay Prison to College Pipeline community, and dear friends, but we are hoping to raise some funds as many of us know that reentry often comes with unexpected challenges especially in these unprecedented times.

We have had the privilege to get to know Rowland over the past two and half years. He is a kind, humble, and brilliant soul, who is always thinking of how he can support and mentor others. He is someone who cares deeply about his family and friends, is generous in every conceivable way, and is fiercely intelligent and driven. Rowland was in the inaugural class of the John Jay Prison to College Pipeline and looks forward to continuing with the program and completing his degree in education once released.  While incarcerated, he spent years coordinating and facilitating the Alternative to Violence Program, completing countless DOCCS classes, and assisting in putting on a variety of events, such as Parole Summits and the Tribeca Film Festival at Otisville Correctional facility.

We have consistently been blown away by Rowland’s resiliency, courage, and optimism in facing the harsh and unforgiving criminal legal system. We have no doubt that Rowland will meet his reentry with these same traits and cannot wait to see all the good he does in the world once he is free.
