Help Vic and Catie win the Battle against Cancer
My name is Nikki, I am asking for your support on behalf of my brother, Victor who has been diagnosed with stage III testicular cancer. Victor is full of life and optimism, he has a passion for music and enjoys playing the drums. He loves to spend time outdoors camping and hiking with the love of his life, his wife Caitlin whom he has known since he was five years old. Victor’s fight began in April 2020 when a growth in his left testicle was shockingly diagnosed as a seminoma tumor. After undergoing surgery to remove the mass Victor was optimistic that this was all behind him. The fact is, the battle had just begun. In March of 2021, on Victor’s 30th birthday, he received news that his blood workrevealed an increase in HCG levels. Victor’s case was rare in the sense that seminoma tumors do not normally produce HCG levels. The fact that it did, aided in early detection. Further testing revealed that the cancer spread to lymphnodes in the back of his abdomen and 2 nodules were present in his lung.
Victor fought hard through a 9 week course of chemotherapy which proved successful; only necrotic cells remained. As Victor prepared to return to his pre-cancer life, he faced more disappointment this time on Caitlin’s birthday, when test results detected a dramatic increase in HCG. We received the heartbreaking news; Victor had relapsed.
Victor is now undergoing a Bridge Chemo cycle devised by his doctors and specialists at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This treatment requires hospitalization for weeks at a time. The next treatment plan will depend on his response to the Bridge Cycle and could include a bone marrow transplant. Without complications, Victor faces at least 5 months of ongoing treatment and recovery. Finances should be the last worry for Victor and Caitie. While Victor is in treatment, Caitie will remain by his side. Medical bills and travel expenses are increasing, this has been so much for them to bear, our hopes are to support them so their primary focus can remain on Victor’s fight and recovery.
Any support would be greatly appreciated, even if you could do so much as to share Victor’s story. Thank you for your ongoing support and love, it has greatly helped Victor
emotionally and mentally. XOXO Nikki
