Help Us Pay for Shima's Surgery

Donation protected
When I first saw Shima streaking through the backyard, I thought he was a raccoon. Our neighborhood is a hot spot for people dumping their animals, particularly their cats; Shima was one such cat. I originally assumed someone new must simply have an outdoor cat (who would dump such a pretty boy?), but as he grew skinnier and skinnier as time went on, I realized he was one of the abandoned. After almost half a year of gentle coaxing, he finally grew to trust me and has become a wonderful "velcro" cat.

It's been years since that first meeting and my confusion over who would dump such a lovely cat has only grown. Shima's one of the sweetest cats I've ever had and everyone who meets him falls in love with his gentle, adoring personality. He asks for pets and love from every human he meets and shrugs off other cats' attitudes, letting kittens pile on him without complaint. One of the vet techs said he's the only cat she's ever met who purred while having an IV stuck in him.

Shima started going off his food last week and was eventually taken to the emergency vet after he refused to eat for 48 hours. The vet determined the cause was an issue with his gallbladder producing stones and mineral obstructions. He needs his gallbladder removed and almost a week of aftercare to make sure he doesn't suffer any ill effects from the surgery in addition to medication. I love this sweet boy, but I can't handle the vet bill this time. Any help you can give will be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
