It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of our beloved Kevin’s passing on Wednesday, October 2nd, 2024, after a sudden and tragic car crash.
Kevin was an extraordinary and caring individual—an exceptional husband, son, and friend—who profoundly touched the lives of everyone around him. He is survived by his wife, Amy; his mother, Sharen; his father, Roland; his four beloved cats; and many other family members and friends who cherished him.
From a young age, Kevin demonstrated remarkable resilience, overcoming a brain tumor at 15. This experience inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others, particularly cancer patients. He earned his PhD in Medical Physics from UT Health San Antonio and completed his residency in Radiation Therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He later became an assistant professor at the University of Kansas Cancer Center before returning to his hometown to serve as a Medical Physicist at the Radiation Oncology Department at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Kevin was passionate about research and programming, helping on innovative treatments that saved countless lives.
As we struggle with this immense loss, we are also faced with unexpected funeral expenses and urgent housing needs. We never anticipated being in a position to ask for help, but we are reaching out during this difficult time.
We have set up a fundraiser in memory of Dr. Kevin Kauweloa. Any contribution, no matter how small, would make a significant difference, allowing us to give Kevin a proper farewell and providing some stability as we navigate the challenges ahead.
Your support, prayers, and generosity mean more to us than words can express. Thank you for standing with us during this time of profound sorrow.
With gratitude,
Amy Brito Delgado and Kevin’s family
