Our daughter is in crisis—and we’re out of options.

For the last 8 months, we’ve fought to get her the specialized care she desperately needs. She’s autistic, has a low IQ, poses a danger to herself and others, and recently developed Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome—a rare and life-threatening condition caused by psychiatric medication.

She’s currently hospitalized, but the facility is a general medical hospital—not a psychiatric one. They’ve admitted she’s only there as a placeholder. We’ve tried to transfer her somewhere more appropriate, but unless the current hospital approves it, we’re stuck.

We’ve contacted dozens of hospitals and submitted her records everywhere we could. Most facilities won’t accept her due to her diagnosis, behaviors, or recent medical history. We are being told she can stay at the hospital for months until we find residential treatment. Right now, we are going back and forth to the hospital and taking care of the other two children. At this time, Tommy can’t work due to everything we have going on.
