Hi, my name is Chantal and I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse. In February my daughter and I have been given an incredible opportunity to travel to Malawi with Great Minds Bright Futures — a grassroots organisation working to transform mental health education and support for children, families, and communities facing extreme poverty, displacement, and trauma.
Why Malawi? Why Now?
In Malawi, mental health support is nearly non-existent for many children and families. Poverty, inequality, and stigma mean that trauma goes unspoken, anxiety goes untreated, and children suffer in silence. We’ll be delivering workshops and training for children in refugee camps, their families, school teachers, and even local authorities — helping build understanding, reduce stigma, and offer hope where it’s desperately needed.
But that’s not all.
We are aiming to raise £6,000, and £1,200 of that will be donated directly to a local school — a lifeline for many children. This school not only provides an education but also gives children their only meal of the day.
Your donation could help feed two children for an entire year. That’s two lives supported with nourishment, safety, and stability — in a place where that can mean everything.
Why This Means Everything to Us
As a mental health nurse, I’ve seen firsthand how early support can change a child’s life. My daughter has grown up understanding the power of compassion and wants to be part of this mission — one of healing, learning, and giving back.
This is our way of making a difference together, as a mother and daughter, and helping those who are so often forgotten.
Breakdown of Funds:
• Travel, accommodation, insurance, vaccinations, and workshop resources for both of us.
• £1,200 donation directly to the school to feed and support two children for a year.
• Mental health resources to leave behind with the community for long-term impact.
How You Can Help:
Even the smallest donation makes a big difference. Whether you give £5 or £50, you’re part of something deeply human: lifting others up in their darkest moments.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us build a future where every child — no matter where they are — is seen, supported, and given the chance to thrive.
