Our Codo Family Needs Your Help ❤️
On the night of July 4th, two members of our Codo Mexican Kitchen family—our J-1 students from Serbia—were riding home after finishing their shift when a driver ran a stop sign and struck their scooter.
In a matter of seconds, what was supposed to be an unforgettable summer in America became a nightmare.
Both were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, including a broken collarbone and fractured vertebrae. While we are incredibly grateful that they are expected to recover, their road ahead will be long, painful and filled with uncertainty.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that they are more than 5,000 miles from home.
Their families, friends and support systems are all in Serbia. They can't simply get in a car to be by their side, help them through recovery or comfort them during one of the hardest moments of their lives. Imagine receiving that phone call from across the ocean, knowing you can't be there for your child.
These two young people came to Cape Cod with excitement, eager to work hard, experience a new culture, improve their English, make lifelong friendships, and create memories they would carry forever. Instead, their summer ended in a hospital room.
As their Codo family, we want to make sure they don't have to face the financial burden of this tragedy alone.
Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping them with:
·Medical expenses not covered by insurance
·Lost wages while they are unable to work
·Transportation and recovery-related costs
·Daily living expenses as they heal
·Any additional needs they face during this incredibly difficult time
On Thursday, July 9, Codo Mexican Kitchen will also donate 100% of our dinner proceeds to support them. This GoFundMe allows everyone—whether you're local or hundreds of miles away—to be part of helping them rebuild.
If you're able to donate, thank you. If you can't, sharing this fundraiser with others means just as much.
Cape Cod has always shown what community looks like in difficult times. Let's remind these two young people that although they're thousands of miles from home, they are surrounded by people who care.
From all of us at Codo, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. ❤️

About the organizer:
This fundraiser is being organized by Codo Mexican Kitchen, part of Coastal Hospitality Group, on behalf of two of our J-1 team members who were seriously injured in an accident while returning home from work. As their employer, we wanted to help ease the financial burden they now face while recovering far from their families and support system.
How the funds will be transferred:
All funds raised will be transferred directly to the two recipients. We are working closely with them to ensure the donations are distributed to help with their recovery and immediate financial needs.
How the funds will be used:
Donations will help cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, lost wages, transportation, housing, daily living expenses during recovery, and other unexpected costs resulting from the accident. Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting their recovery.
