Update 3/7:

Trigger had his surgery two days ago. The surgery was a success, the vet was able to remove 100 percent of the tumor as well as his tail. He is at home recovering and is doing well. We will not know if he needs any additional treatments until we get the biopsy results next week. He will need follow up appointments either way to see how his recovery process is going.

Our 10-year-old cat, Trigger, was recently diagnosed with a large sarcoma tumor at the base of his tail. Unfortunately, the tumor is still growing, and Trigger needs surgery urgently. To give him the best chance at a cancer-free life, his entire tail must be removed. The surgeon has very limited space to work with, only two vertebrae of clearance, if the tumor grows beyond that surgery is no longer a viable option.

We love Trigger; he is the sweetest cat you have ever seen. We adopted him when he was only a few months old, he had health issues as a kitten so he became very closely bonded with his foster and in turn with us as well. He is not like other cats, he needs constant cuddles and affection. His brother, Casper, is deaf and relies on Trigger as his ears. They're inseparable, and the thought of them being apart is heartbreaking.

With the birth of our daughter 9 months ago, we have seen him come to love her. Her face lights up with pure joy whenever she sees him, and her giggles fill the room as she reaches out to pet him. They're building a beautiful bond, and we desperately want them to grow up together.

The vet anticipates the surgery to cost between $4,000-$6,000, and we have already spent over $1,400 in testing and consults alone. There is also the potential for radiation treatment if all the cancer is not removed fully. We know times are tough for everyone, but we simply can't bear the thought of losing Trigger. He's not just a pet; he's family.
