Hey, what’s up? I’m Darcia aka DARSH aka Shitty Bear aka Soft Monster. I’m a 16-year-old Manx living with my purrents (Atreus and Gerard) in Portland, OR! We moved here from Texas in 2021! Worst car ride of my life, but at least it didn’t end at the vet’s office nyahaha.

Speaking of vets… I’ve had to spend a lot of time with them lately. I started having nosebleeds this past summer (it was really scary for my purrents, but it didn’t bother me much), so my dads took me to a fancy new vet to get a CT scan and a rhinoscopy! The good news is I got to take the best nap while I was there! The bad news is they found a mass in my nasal canal. The doctor said the biopsy showed it was Nasal Adenocarcinoma, which is bad I guess. They also said that the tumor has caused some bone destruction and is starting to press into my brain. I don’t think it’s any big deal. I feel fine other than an annoying stuffy nose and watery eye, but my dad is pretty broken up about it. We lost my best friend, Cinder, in 2023 shortly after the vet found a mass in her stomach that turned out to be lymphoma. It’s been hard adjusting to life without her, and I know my dad misses her sorely. He still talks to her every day and always makes an extra shot of espresso in the morning and leaves it on the altar next to her picture for her. (She loved the smell of coffee. It smells too bitter to me.)

I think he’s afraid he’s going to lose me too. He’s been crying a lot lately (so dramatic lol). I can’t say I like the idea of leaving him behind. I don’t know what he would do without me. Who would know to wake him up early in the morning so he can emotionally prepare to feed me an hour later? Who would thoughtfully comb his hair with their little teefs to save him valuable cuddle time?

The doctor said if my tumor keeps growing, it can cause meowrological problems like seizures or memory loss. I must admit, that sounds a little scary, even for me. We can treat it with radiation. (May or may not result in cool mutations or superpowers.) Apparently, it could make me a lot more comfortable by shrinking the tumor, and it could even make me live longer! (Sounds like a superpower to me!)

Unfortunately, the radiation treatment is really expensive. My purrents don’t have enough money to pay for it. I guess that’s why they’re always telling me to get a job nyahaha~

I want to stick around and hang out with my dads for as long as I can! So I decided to make this page to help raise money to pay for radiation! It would be RAD (pun intended) if you could help meowt!

We need to get $6000 to pay for the treatment. My dad says he’s hoping it will make me more comfortable and make it a little easier for me to breathe through my nose. I’d just be glad to spend more time with him.
