For as long as I can remember, Poppy’s happiest days have been spent out on the water. At 94 years old, he still talks about fishing with the same sparkle in his eyes he had when he was younger. His boat has always been more than just a boat — it’s been his escape, his joy, and a place where he’s made countless memories with family.

About a year ago, we thought we were doing the right thing when we handed Poppy’s boat motor over to a mobile boat mechanic. Poppy was excited, thinking the repairs would have him back on the water in no time. But what followed was months of being led on. The mechanic kept saying he was fixing this and adjusting that, making promises he never kept.

In the end, he took $1,700 from us… and then he took the motor too.

He vanished — a complete con artist. We’ve gone through all the proper channels, tried every legal avenue, and even reached out to police, but the man who stole Poppy’s motor is untraceable. No repairs were made, no motor returned, and no justice served.

What breaks my heart the most is seeing Poppy’s boat sitting there, still and silent. He doesn’t complain, but I can tell he misses it. And at his age, every moment counts. I just want to give him the chance to feel that joy again — the wind, the water, and a fishing rod in his hands.

That’s why I’m reaching out for help.

I’m hoping to raise enough funds to buy Poppy a brand-new boat motor so we can get his boat running again. I want to take him out on the water, even just a handful of times, and give him back something that was taken away from him unfairly.

Any support, big or small, would mean the world — not just to me, but to Poppy, who deserves one more chapter of memories on the water he loves.
