Help the Quijano Family rebuild their home
Donazione protetta

I am writing this on behalf of my grandmother, Mama Ester (92), and other family members in the Philippines. Typhoon Rai has destroyed the family home; and, they have been left with very little. At present, we still lack information because communication is very limited with everyone. What we currently know is that they lack access to clean drinking water, food, electricity, and money to repair the home. The second floor is in ruin including the destruction of some outside walls making it inhabitable and unable to prevent rain from leaking downstairs, making the whole home an ineffective shelter. Uncle Tony and my Cousin Stephanie were both caught in the second floor during the storm; and, the strong winds trapped them as the winds jammed the doors as they struggled to get to safety on lower levels of the family home. Because of this, Uncle Tony was injured; and, he is now limited in mobility. From everything we can tell, Mama Ester is safe. It appears that she was able to "tough out" the storm, but we are still waiting to gather more information since cell phone signal is spotty. What we do know is that the roof is damaged, and the house is exposed to outside elements. We are hoping that friends and family can help her with some repairs so she can continue living her full life in peace and grace. If you all have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are praying that this is just one more storm she gets to survive and overcome. We appreciate your assistance in advance. Thank you SO much from our family.
