HELP THE KINGS GET INDOOR PLUMBING...

Donation protected

Hi, we are Derrick and Joy Hamilton. We are raising funds to help an elderly couple build a small, safe place to live with running water.

While assisting the senior class at Heritage Academy on a medical mission trip to Jamaica, we providentially met the Kings. Mrs. King is a Bible worker who walks many miles to share the love of Jesus through Bible study. Her elderly husband has been diagnosed with cancer and is no longer able to work as he would like to.

One day, we offered to drop them home after church - as they often walked miles just to get to church and back. It was then that we discovered their need for a home and water. They are so humble and kind, as we saw them sharing the little that they have with others and never complaining.

The harsh living conditions and lack of water for their basic needs brought tears to our eyes. A small room was being built but they had no funds to complete it. Mrs. King had used her last few dollars to purchase water for their tank as it had not rained in a while.

Taking this report to Doug and Debbie Baker, the Principal and President of Heritage Academy, we decided to help.

We committed to:
• help them have a safe place to live with indoor plumbing and a kitchen.
• ensure they have access to water.

Students and staff worked hard. We purchased supplies and water with our limited resources and got busy working on the house.

We caught a glimpse of the big picture:
• a safe place to live
• access to water
• decreased stress & fear
• a healthier environment
• freedom to spend more time as a bible-worker

Unfortunately, we had to leave too soon, but we are committed to helping this precious couple in their time of great need.

The project urgently needs financial help to complete the building before the rainy season sets them back any further.

Need: approximately $20,000 for building materials, supplies, and labor - not including kitchen cabinets, appliances, or furniture.

I am inviting you to be a part of this project and bring hope to this family.

Your donation could help to lay some blocks, pour concrete, add a door or window, or even put a roof on the house. Your donation could help provide access to water and improve sanitary conditions.

We believe this is a worthy project. This elderly couple needs help, and we have committed the project to prayer.

We urgently request your financial support in helping this family.

Your donations will make a difference in their lives and the lives of untold numbers who will hear the gospel through the tireless efforts of this faithful bible worker.

The septic tank has been dug and now covered. We are getting closer.

The way things were before.
The walls are going up, one block at a time.
Sweet memories but we must upgrade. An indoor kitchen is our goal.
Sweet cooking on the outdoor makeshift stove. Not so sweet when the rain falls or when the bugs want their share. Let's help get the kitchen built ASAP.

Mixing the concrete is hard work as these kids and staff quickly discovered.
Oh my! We have to sift the sand first. Okay, boys let's do it!
When they were not building walls they were building friendships. 6 health expos in 5 days. Health & Wellness at the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh Day Adventists. Health Expo at the Victor Dixon High School, Churches and Community. An amazing outreach. The conference leaders welcomed the team with open arms and made us feel at home. We love the Jamaica Union Conference.

On the road again! Heading to another community for a health fair.
