Help the Governo Family
Doação protegida
Help Our Friend Stay in Her Home. Everyone deserves a safe, warm, affordable home. You have the power to make that possible for this local family. We can save Meg’s home, but we need your help!
When Meg Governo's husband, David Delbonis, passed away in 2010, he left a huge vacuum. Those of us who knew and loved him, still miss his quick wit, creativity, vast knowledge and accomplishments as a contractor, auto mechanic, home chef, loving husband and father. David left behind his young widow, Meg Governo, and two small children. Sadly, David did not imagine passing away at 60 years old.
At that unimaginable time a group of us created a village to surround Meg. We kept her company, waded through mounds of paperwork, painted, created gardens and made sure that the little house that David bought his family just before his death was in good repair.
Fast forward a few years. Life as a single parent is not easy. Working full time, coordinating the children’s activities and stretching the budget until it is ready to snap takes a toll.
But when in 2019, Meg’s job is eliminated, the toll increases. Finding a job when you are approaching 60 is not easy. Simultaneously one of the children, like many kids who have lost a parent, begins to experience social and emotional issues. Meg must focus all her attention and limited resources on helping Margot cope, convincing him to attend school and teaching him how to navigate the intricacies of high school. Adding Covid and inflation to this mix pushes this little family to the breaking point.
But break this family has not. As resilient as they are, the family confronts the inability to afford needed repairs to the little house David left. High interest rates make a loan or using a credit card impractical. Keeping the mortgage current to avoid foreclosure weighs heavy every single month. No one should have to live on the edge like this- No one- but especially not our friend Meg and especially when we can help.
All monies donated will go to: *Paying the mortgage, *Household repairs, *Food and clothing for Meg and her two children, and *Utilities. In kind donations are welcome. Meg continues to look for work, so please pass along any thoughts.
American spiritual guru Ram Dass said it so beautifully: “When all is said and done, we are all just walking each other home.” Please join us in walking with Meg and make a donation here.
