Update 10/15/2025 - We got to go to a couple of follow up appointments today. Nelson is doing really well considering all of his injuries. He needs to continue to wear the c-collar for another 4 weeks and then he’ll have another visit. He likely will not be able to work until December and still has several restrictions on his activity. I’m so grateful he’s healing so well. I also want to thank everyone that has donated. I cried and cried and am so humbled at how much generosity we’ve been shown.
As some know, Nelson was in an accident on 9/28 and was life-flighted to the University of Utah Hospital. He was involved in a single-vehicle crash where he went off the road and hit a boulder. He sustained many injuries but luckily only needed to stay in the hospital for 5 days and will eventually make a full recovery.
For now, he has to wear a c-collar for 6 weeks and cannot drive, lift, or bend. This is going to keep him from work for several months while the medical bills roll in. To add insult to injury, we received a citation in the mail from the Nevada Highway Patrol for “disobeying directions of traffic control” for “driver drove over the white solid line entering the dirt shoulder and crashing into a large boulder.” This ticket alone is over $400.
It’s hard to ask for help, especially financially, but we’re in a very difficult situation, and hopefully, in the future, we can return the favor for someone else.
