Help the Baughman Family Rebuild After Wildfire
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
I am writing this on behalf of my brother and his family. My name is Kristin Baughman and I am the sister to Jason Baughman. My goal is to raise any amount of funds to go directly to Jason and his family due to the loss of their home from a wild fire. The Borel wild fire destroyed their family home on Friday, July 26, 2024 up in Caliente, California. Additional information is provided below, Thank you for taking the time to read. I greatly appreciate it.
Yesterday, a wildfire “Borel Fire” devastated the home of my brother, Jason Baughman, his wife, Mary Baughman, and their three amazing children, Blake, 16, Max, 14, and Charlotte, 12. This tragic event resulted in the loss of their family home and a tremendous amount of their possessions, leaving them with such an incredible loss.
I'd like to share a bit about Jason, Mary, and their children. About 4 ½ years ago, Jason and his family made the significant decision to move from the bustling city to the tranquil rural area of Caliente, CA. This move was motivated by their deep-rooted values and aspirations for a better quality of life.
Since relocating, they have tirelessly worked to transform their home and land. They created hiking trails, built an above-ground pool, established a chicken coop and a goat farm, and even crafted a magical Tinkerbell fairyland forest for Charre. Mary now enjoys a small gym, and the entire family has contributed to numerous other projects. This place became Jason's passion, a fact evident in his beaming face whenever we visited.
Max particularly loved spending time with his dad, eagerly learning about building and crafting things from scratch. Jason’s dedication to their family home was unparalleled. He’s the kind of person who buys broken cars, tractors, and toys, then fixes them up—not only because it's cost-effective, but because he genuinely enjoys the process. Mary loved their endless walks on the hiking trails, often taking the goats and dogs along.
Jason, Mary, and the kids are also deeply devoted to their church and community. They volunteer regularly, participate in local events, and go on missionary trips to serve others. They are truly wonderful human beings, always ready to lend a helping hand.
This morning, I spoke with Mary. She shared a heartbreaking realization: she woke up cold and suddenly remembered, "Oh my God, I don’t even have a jacket." Blake, their son, texted my daughter, saying, "Monkey is gone," referring to his cherished stuffed animal monkey he's had since he was an infant.
The loss of their home and everything in it due to the wildfire is devastating beyond words. Jason, Mary, and their children have poured their hearts and souls into their home and community. Now, they need our help to rebuild and recover from this tragedy.
Every little bit helps, and no donation is too small. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your network would mean the world to us. Together, we can make a huge difference in helping the Baughman’s family rebuild their lives and find hope in the midst of this tragedy.
