Help Tammy Hellyer Fight Cancer

Hello everyone. Our names are Stan Hellyer Jr and Michelle Capela. We are starting this fundraiser to help support our parents, Tammy and Stan Hellyer Sr.

What started out as a happy, week long vacation to Tucson, Arizona has suddenly turned into a living nightmare.

On 29 April our parents, Tammy and Stan Hellyer set out for their trip to Tucson, Arizona to visit their daughter, son in law (David) and 3 year old grandson (Wesley). As the days went on mom mentioned leg pain and needed to hold onto dad while walking, afraid to lose her balance. On 30 April, as the day went on, mom started experiencing stomach pains. Fast forward to 1 May, we headed to the Emergency Room and from there transferred to Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ, where our worlds were quickly turned upside down. Mom is suddenly and unexpectedly faced with the battle of her life.

Mom was diagnosed with metastatic cancer involving lung, spleen, liver, brain and potentially other areas of her body. The MRI results showed there are multiple tumors on both sides of her brain and doctors said this is incurable but can be treated to prolong her life. On 3 May, a biopsy was taken and results are still pending.

Tucson, AZ is where she currently remains as she is unable to travel to her home in Pennsylvania, due to the swelling of her brain. Symptoms of the cancer are coming on quick as the days go by. In just 5 days, mom is unable to walk, has lost function on her left side, unable to write her name and is having vision difficulties.

If you know our parents they are determined, hard workers and never ask for help but help is what they now need. If you know her, she is the kind of person that always seems to put everyone else’s needs before her own. Now is our time to take care of her! We have quite the journey ahead but mom is ready to FIGHT!

We have set up this GoFund Me that will go directly to our parents, Tammy and Stan Hellyer to put towards bi-weekly insurance payments as Tammy cannot work, extensive medical bills, supplemental income, treatment costs, making the home more accessible for mom and travel expenses as they eventually hope to be back to their own home in Pennsylvania and anything else they may need during this fight for her life.
