Help a True Caregiver Heal After a Devastating Fall

You know those people who light up a room, lift others up, and spend their days pouring into everyone around them?
That’s Suzette Buck!

Our sweet friend—one of the most generous, big-hearted humans you’ll ever meet—earned the trip of a lifetime: a FREE Plexus Rising Leaders Retreat cruise with her friends, all thanks to her heart for sharing and caring for others. She gives so much of herself, every single day, helping her Plexus clients and as a physical therapy assistant, helping others heal and regain their strength.

But on the first full day of the cruise, life took a shocking turn.

She fell—hard—face-first onto a marble floor. It’s unclear if she tripped or fainted, but what we do know is that her face broke the fall, and her body took a beating. The result?
    •    A major concussion
    •    Multiple breaks in her nose
    •    A deep gash on her forehead
    •    Whiplash to her upper spine and neck
    •    Injuries to both elbows and her forearm
    •    A banged-up left knee
    •    And serious damage to her right foot

She’s now unable to drive, work, or take care of herself on her own. She’s been living with me and Win and her cute dog, Finley, is living with another Plexus friend, Susy Russell.

If you know her, you know asking for help is not in her nature. But these injuries are going to take a village to overcome—and that’s where you come in.

She’ll need roughly 3 months to recover enough to even think about returning to work, which means about $15,000 in living expenses, plus an estimated $15,000–$20,000 in medical bills. (Because apparently, marble floors are not only unforgiving—but also very expensive.). Thankfully, our incredible company, Plexus, has covered her under their travel insurance plan. We are working with them and hopeful she and her cruise mate will get reimbursed for their travel once she had to leave the ship. However, they only cover medical expenses incurred while outside of the United States. Since she was injured and treated in Key West, Florida, she will be responsible for her medical expenses including 40% of her emergency room bill and ambulance ride, as well her continued medical care here in Charlottesville. That includes several doctors, X-rays and scans, many physical therapy appointments (probably more than her insurance will cover) and hyperbaric chamber therapy which isn’t covered by insurance at all. It is adding up fast!

If you feel led, please consider donating. Any amount helps. Even $10 gets her one step closer to healing, stability, and independence.

She would never ask for this herself, so I’m asking on her behalf. Because if anyone deserves a little extra love and support right now—it’s her.

Thank you for being part of her village.
Let’s rally around this incredible woman who’s spent her life helping others stand strong—now it’s our turn to help her do the same.
