Fundraiser for Susan Honsberger - Fernie & Family
On May 13th of this year, my sister, Susan Honsberger-Fernie was hospitalized. She had suddenly found herself suffering from severe headaches and numbness in her legs. Susan was admitted, and after much testing, it was determined she has rare condition, neurosacroidosis—a condition with no known cure. Though with treatment Susan has begun to recover to a degree, her condition means that she will likely struggle with certain tasks and aspects of daily living. Her physical therapy is ongoing at the time, and even walking can be a major challenge for her.
Susan has been in the hospital for about two and a half months, with her release from the hospital being slated for the 22nd of July. Since she was not working during this period, money is short—both in regards to basic life expenses such as food, bills, and rent for Susan, her husband, and 10-year-old son, but also for the assistive devices Susan will need moving forward to continue on—such as a walker, cane and home accessibility items. This would also help cover transportation costs for Susan to and from appointments, as she is unable to drive at the moment due to her condition. Though the government offers some financial assistance, the process is slow, and these are things Susan needs sooner rather than later, as they effect her day to day.
Any and all donations of any size are appreciated, and thank you for reading this far. If you are unable to donate, please share this—it means the world to both us, her family, and Susan herself. Thank you.
