Help Support Marsha Dana's Road to Recovery
Donazione protetta
If you’ve ever had the joy of meeting Marsha Dana, you already know—to know her is to love her.
Marsha is a devoted mother of four, a loving stepmother to three more, a proud grandmother, a wife, and a fiercely compassionate nurse. Her life has always been about caring for others. After having her first two children, she put herself through nursing school, determined to give them a better life. Through every challenge, Marsha made sure her children grew up in a home filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
As a nurse, Marsha has touched countless lives with her empathy, warmth, and humor. Several years ago, she took a travel nursing job at a nursing home on Long Island—and the patients and staff loved her so much, they convinced her to stay. She’s been there ever since, giving her heart and soul to the people she cares for.
But now, Marsha needs our help.
After contracting COVID-19, Marsha developed a rare and rapidly progressing kidney disease called Glomerulonephritis. This condition causes the kidneys’ filtering units to become inflamed, severely damaging their ability to clean the blood and produce urine. Marsha is no longer able to urinate on her own and has undergone surgery to insert stents in both of her ureters.
She spent a month in the hospital undergoing intensive treatments including steroids, chemotherapy medications, plasmapheresis (a process that removes harmful antibodies from the blood), and kidney dialysis. Though stable enough to come home, her journey is far from over.
Marsha will need to be on dialysis for a full year before she can receive a kidney transplant. All four of her adult children—her greatest pride—are being tested to see if they can be a donor. That they are lining up without hesitation is a powerful testament to the kind of mother Marsha is.
During this year of dialysis, Marsha will be moving in with her daughter, Natasha—who, inspired by her mom’s legacy, also became a nurse. Natasha will be providing at-home dialysis to support her mother’s recovery and comfort.
As Marsha fights her way back to health, she is unable to work. Though she is on disability, it only covers 60% of her income, and she faces mounting medical bills and must still pay for high-deductible insurance.
We are asking for your help to ease the financial burden on Marsha during this incredibly difficult time. Every dollar raised will go directly to her medical expenses, insurance costs, and basic living needs as she undergoes treatment and awaits her transplant.
More specifically, your donations will help with:
• Co-pays and medical bills not covered by insurance
• At-home dialysis equipment and medication
• Transportation to and from treatments and doctor visits
• Transplant-related expenses, including donor testing
• Living expenses while on disability
• Insurance premiums and deductibles
Marsha has spent her life caring for others. Now it’s our turn to care for her. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others who might be able to help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting this remarkable woman. Let’s rally around Marsha with the same love, generosity, and strength that she has given to so many.
With gratitude,
Marsha’s Family
