Those who know Jeff Closs know he has a great sense of humour, he appreciates a great meal and always enjoys watching the Green Bay Packers. He’s handy and knows his way around the garage and he’s always willing to lend a hand to help out someone who needs a favour or some advice. He’s a loyal brother, uncle, son, nephew, cousin and friend. Most importantly, he’s a loving husband to his wife, Tracey, and a proud dad to their two children, Shaine and Matthew.

What you may not know is that Jeff, only 56, is now living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This terminal neurological disease has aggressively stolen his ability to use his legs, arms and hands. It is also affecting his speech and lung function.

With the incredibly rapid pace this disease has moved (only detected 2 months ago), those who love him have been left scrambling to stay ahead of his needs. While he has been fortunate to receive support from the SHA, Jeff’s needs change weekly, if not daily. We want to ensure he has everything he needs immediately and without concern for the costs.

Support for Jeff and his family means peace of mind from enormous financial burdens, and empowerment to focus on the people and things that truly matter right now.

All donations will be used to support Jeff’s medical needs and the needs of his family. No one expects a cruel diagnosis like this where your body betrays you and robs you of the ability to work, provide and live your life independently. We hope to reach our fundraising goal to at least help relieve some of the significant financial impact that this disease has caused, including unexpected medical needs and the premature end to Jeff’s CP Rail career while both kids are still in university. We want Jeff and his family to have the best quality of life possible.
