Help Sudanese Refugees from Darfur Build A New Tomorrow
Donation protected
My name is Zikra Fashir and I’m from El Fashir, Sudan in Darfur. My family has been dealing with the consequences of genocide for decades now. As of recently, due to the war, a vast majority of my family members have been displaced and reside in refugee camps. The last few are stuck in the Zam Zam refugee camp in Darfur and Tina. All of their belongings have been either stolen or left behind in the rubble of their homes. Many of my family members have passed away due to lack of medical attention, mostly elders. Others have passed due to bullet wounds and bombs, and those who are alive have witnessed extreme violence, some of which have dealt with sexual assault and rape.
Now that they are out of Sudan, their next battle has been lack of access to resources such as sufficient food, medicine, and decent housing. Many suffered in the refugee camp, only having tents that can’t withstand rain. Now they have to figure out how to start a new life without any money and while grieving the deaths of their family. This doesn’t include all of the trauma they have to carry for the rest of their lives.
This fund is to support Darfuri refugees in Bweyale camp alongside refugees still in Tina.
