Help struggling refugee Ukrainian family

Hi everyone,

My name is Vera. I’m asking for your financial support today to help a struggling refugee Ukrainian family from Mariupol, who I’ve gotten to know over the past few months. They came to the U.S. at the end of April after surviving weeks of nonstop bombing by the Russians by hiding in a basement. Their escape from Mariupol is a miracle: they traveled many treacherous, long days and nights from village to village amid shooting on roads and exhausting queues at countless patrol checks.

Their old life was destroyed by the war. Now they are trying to restore it here in America. But they are still in shock and face financial hardship. Let's help them overcome this unimaginable situation as much as we can.

The family is made up of 5 women from three generations: a grandmother Olga, her twin daughters Masha and Dasha, and their daughters: 6-year-old Veronica and 11-year-old Vika.

Back in Mariupol, the women worked in accounting and contract management, and the family was very happy. The little girls are so sweet and talented—they like gymnastics, drawing, and ballet. All was well until February 24th, when the war started. Mariupol was the hardest-hit city in the south. Now their beautiful city simply doesn't exist any more. Tens of thousands of civilians, mostly women, seniors, and children, were tortured and killed. During air raids, the family huddled in the basement. Buildings all around them were destroyed and burned to the ground one after another, too quickly for them even to bury their dead neighbors.

After a few weeks, they decided to try to escape. Lucky to be alive, they made their long way to America. Starting over seems impossible now. But these five women are incredibly brave and thankful. They need our help with rent, medical and transportation expenses, and they greatly appreciate anything you can give.
