My name is Steven, and since June of this year, I have been living with chronic pancreatitis. This condition has taken a huge toll on my health and my life. I have had to go to the Emergency Department many times and have been admitted to the hospital repeatedly. Even with insurance, my portion of the medical bills is overwhelming, and the bills are still coming in. Because this is a chronic condition, I know the expenses will only continue to add up.

Living on a fixed disability income makes it nearly impossible to keep up with these costs. Most of my disability check goes toward trying to pay these bills, leaving very little for anything else. On top of that, my condition requires a very specific and restricted diet, and the foods I am able to eat are often not affordable. Every day is a challenge, both physically and financially, as I try to manage my health and keep up with the mounting expenses.
