Our names are Maher Al-Attar and Samah Alaydi. We are a young Palestinian couple, united by love and resilience, striving to build a new life together despite the devastating war that has engulfed our homeland.

Maher's Story

I, Maher, am 28 years old. For the past nine years, my simplest dream was to finish building my small house, complete my marriage plans, and start a family. After years of hard work, I finally completed my modest apartment. Unfortunately, my city has faced several wars, with the latest conflict causing unimaginable destruction.

During this war, I sustained a severe injury that led to the amputation of my right leg. Despite this, I survived by God's will. My home, which I had worked so hard to build, was completely destroyed, making it uninhabitable. Tragically, I also lost my father, my brother's wife, and my brother's seven children. Our home, once a symbol of hope and a new beginning, became a place of unimaginable loss and sorrow.

Samah's Story

I, Samah, grew up as an orphan in Gaza, under the care of my hardworking mother who sacrificed everything to ensure a brighter future for me. Thanks to her efforts, I became an engineer, graduating from the Islamic University in 2019. I underwent extensive training, honing my skills in freelancing, Android development, and social media. Despite the upheaval caused by war, I remained committed to my professional development and endeavored to support my family while establishing my own business, Creative Touch.

However, my aspirations were abruptly halted when conflict erupted in Gaza. Displaced from my home, I found myself volunteering at an UNRWA shelter, assisting fellow displaced individuals. Witnessing countless tragic stories, I did my best to provide support despite the inherent risks involved.

A New Beginning

Amidst this devastation, Maher and I found solace in each other. We got engaged during the war, deciding to build our own life and family despite the harsh reality. Love and humanity are our guiding lights. Together, we dream of reconstructing our home and creating a future filled with hope and resilience.
