Help Roger & Betty move to Choctaw Nation's reservation

Roger & Betty need support to move out of their Chicago apartment of 30 years and to the Choctaw reservation in Mississippi. They have multiple disabilities and a lot of stuff, so getting them closer to family and medical care will be tricky.

Roger recently fell down the stairs and will require 24/7 support for the indefinite future. If he remains in the Chicago area, his only option is to remain at a nursing home in the suburbs far away from his mother Betty and Betty will likely also get put into state care. They miss each other terribly and the separation is not sustainable. Betty is in her 70's, blind, not very mobile, only speaks Choctaw, and no longer feels safe in her apartment so living alone is scary and lonely. Roger is also blind and has multiple other health issues, physical disabilities, and also struggles with cognitive function.

Roger will need to be transported to Mississippi in a medical transport vehicle, along with Betty, which will cost $6,500. Moving expenses for their 1 bedroom apartment with all of their life belongings will be ~$2,000. Bus tickets for a family member to come from the reservation to help Betty move are $600 round trip. The rest of the money will go to Betty's basic needs, like buying her food, which their neighbors have been supporting.

On the Choctaw reservation, Roger will live at the medical center and Betty will stay with her brother. In Chicago, because they both have mobility issues and are blind, they are unable to do basic necessary tasks without the support of neighbors. Betty also lives in a derelict apartment with holes in the ceilings and black mold and their landlord has tried to illegally evict Betty and Roger. This move will offer them much more necessary support, company, and peace. Betty will be able to go to the doctor for the first time in decades, be surrounded by people who can speak her language, and more easily visit her son.
