Your support means:
• $30 = One day of treatment
• $95 = Three days of treatment
• $215 = One week of treatment
The Story:
On June 28th, devoted cat mom Grace took Ripley to the animal emergency room. Ripley wasn't eating, her eyes were red and bleary, and Grace could tell just from holding her that she had a very high fever.
Over the next week, vets ruled out the most likely causes while treating her with IV fluids, anti-inflammatory drugs, and eventually a feeding tube to deliver the nutrients she desperately needed. This life-saving treatment allowed Ripley to stay alive -- but when she didn't get better, the vet predicted the worst: she had FIP (Feline Infections Peritonitis), a rare but deadly virus.
Grace and her loved ones were devastated. Ripley is a sweet and beloved member of our family, and FIP has long been considered a death sentence for cats.
The Cure:
At first we searched in vain for a miracle -- but at last, we stumbled upon an experimental treatment . It wasn't yet approved for official use, but scientists had found that it had successfully cured cats with FIP. But it is extremely expensive and difficult to acquire (#cureFIP!), and Grace has to administer daily shots to Ripley for the next twelve weeks.
The Problem:
The cost of the medicine alone is $2,500, and the vet bills will amount to well over $3,000. We have been able to acquire most of the life-saving medicine, but this has completely wiped out Grace's savings after being laid off because of the pandemic.
With Your Help...
Ripley's life can be saved with this rare medicine. She's barely a year old, and has many good years ahead of her as part of our family. Her loss would also be devastating for her sister Tuna (Neptune). This is our first time using a GoFundMe, and you can be sure that every single cent will go towards paying the exorbitant costs of Ripley's treatment. We will post receipts and any other documentation to verify these expenses.
Meet Ripley:
Ripley is a "foster fail," :) a kitty Grace started out fostering but ended up adopting, along with her sister Tuna. Grace has raised her since she could fit in the palm of your hand:
She's always been tiny, but with huge eyes!
And she's also a very good sport :)
Anything you can give to help us save Ripley's life would be met with thanks from the bottom of our hearts. We will provide regular updates so you can see the results of your generosity.
With love,
Team Ripley
