Richard Eideh, a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam and a beloved security guard at Trinity Livonia, is now facing the fight of his life. After a car accident led to unexpected testing, Richard was diagnosed with AML Leukemia — an aggressive and life-threatening cancer.
He has endured months of hospitalizations, painful treatments, infections, and setbacks, and doctors have told him he may never be able to work again. With only a fraction of his income through disability (which is coming to an end soon), Richard is now struggling to keep up with basic expenses while also caring for his daughter, who lives with multiple sclerosis.
Your support will help Richard and his daughter stay in their home, keep the lights on, and put food on the table while he continues this difficult battle. Any gift, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
Help Support Richard in His Fight Against Leukemia
Richard Eideh is a United States Marine Corps veteran who bravely served his country in Vietnam. Today, he is facing one of the toughest battles of his life — a fight against AML Leukemia, an aggressive form of blood cancer.
Richard’s journey began after a car accident that left him with a neck injury requiring surgery. During his pre-surgical lab work, doctors discovered his platelets were dangerously low and rushed him to the ER. After further testing, Richard received the devastating diagnosis of AML Leukemia with a highly aggressive TP53 mutation, making his prognosis very grim.
He spent over 40 days hospitalized at Trinity Health Hospital–Ann Arbor, enduring painful rounds of chemotherapy and countless transfusions of blood and platelets. His body has been ravaged by fever, infection, and weakness, and at times he has been incoherent from the pain and treatments. Even now, his immune system remains so compromised that a simple infection could be life-threatening.
Despite all of this, Richard continues to fight. After his first chemo cycle, he developed sepsis from an infected PICC line and dental issues, landing him back in the hospital for weeks on IV antibiotics. His third bone marrow biopsy recently revealed disease progression, meaning his journey with treatment is far from over.
Throughout this time, Richard has been unable to work as a security guard at Trinity Livonia, a job he loved. Doctors have told him he may never be able to return. He is now on short-term disability, receiving just 60% of his pay, which is not enough to cover his living expenses. On top of his own struggle, Richard also helps support his daughter, who lives with multiple sclerosis and relies on his care.
This once-strong Marine, who gave so much to his country and his community, now needs help to keep going. Donations will go toward keeping Richard and his daughter in their home, covering utilities, groceries, and basic needs during this difficult time.
Richard has always stood guard for others. Now, it’s our turn to stand with him. Any support — big or small — will make a meaningful difference in his fight against leukemia and in helping him and his daughter survive this overwhelming season.
