This fundraiser is happening as a delegation of Patients and Doctors return from the nation's capital for its second lobby week, after a successful campaign in November 2022.

The delegation went seeking more compassionate access to medical psilocybin as an alternative treatment option for Canadians suffering from chronic disease, addiction, PTSD and palliative depression.

Patients and Doctors have sent letters to the Minister of Health Jean-Yves Duclos and the Minister of Mental Health and Addiction, Dr. Carolyn Bennett, seeking an immediate resolution to 2 court cases involving patient and healthcare professional access to medical psilocybin. The request to settle the court case by forming medical regulations comes as the Ministers work through amendments to Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) regime. The proposed amendments will make these patient plaintiffs eligible for MAiD but still prohibit Psilocybin, a potential supplemental or alternative treatment to MAiD.

In addition to meeting with decision-makers and health organizations, a public meeting and press conference were held to educate the public and recommend a transparent regulatory approach to guide medical access to psilocybin, just as was done for cannabis in 2000.
