Recycle Health: A Fundraiser for Health and Sustainability

About Recycle Health
Recycle Health was started out of Tufts University in 2015 with the mission to give still-functioning activity trackers and smart watches such as Fitbits, Garmins and Apple Watches to underserved populations who would benefit from their use but could not afford to purchase one.

In the fall of 2021, Recycle Health founder Dr. Lisa Gualtieri (and my master's thesis advisor and friend) approached me about taking over Recycle Health. I had always admired the work that Dr. Gualtieri had done with Recycle Health and because I love a challenge, I said yes.

In late 2021, Recycle Health moved its operations from Tufts to Natick, MA and I established it as an independent 501(c)3 organization. It has remained a passion project for its Board and me, and is 100% volunteer-run.

Recycle Health's Impact
Since 2022, Recycle Health has received 3,500 devices. Even better, we have distributed over 3,200 devices to over 100 organizations such as:

A Fundraiser to Continue Recycle Health's Mission
Recycle Health has set a goal to raise $1,000 by mid-January to cover our 2025 expenses. If we don’t raise this money, we will be at risk of discontinuing the work we’ve done to reduce e-waste and provide fitness and health tracking to underserved populations. And because I can’t just raise money, I have committed to completing a burpee for every dollar donated. You can see my progress on Recycle Health’s YouTube channel or Instagram.

How you can support us
Your donation--no matter the amount—is an investment in the work that Recycle Health does to keep activity trackers and smart watches out of landfills and provide them to populations that wouldn’t ordinarily have access to them.
  • $10: Celebrate Recycle Health heading into 10 years of operations!
  • $25: Support Recycle Health continuing its work into 2025
  • $36: Covers the cost of one month of our PO Box (the Post Office staff knows us very well!)
  • $130: The number of different device models we have received since 2022. There are many different kinds of activity trackers out there.
