Help rebuild my grandma's house after hurricane Milton!
Hello, my name is Jess. I live in hudson florida.
This is an attempt to get help for my grandma and my uncle.
This house that has gone viral across the internet was my grandma's house. Her tree came down and destroyed her home during Hurricane Milton. The winds peaked at 112 mph in her area.
The house was one of the very first houses in the St. Pete area that she lives in. The tree was a huge ear tree (iconic in its size). She planted the tree when they first got the house back in the 1940s, making the house completely wooden.
Due to the tree's size, the house didn't have a chance.
My grandma has lived there her whole life, my mom and my aunts/my uncles were raised in that house, and I even grew up in that house.
It is an entire lifetime of memories and life destroyed in a couple of short hours due to the horrific hurricane that came through Wednesday/early Thursday.
Luckily, my grandma and my uncle are safe but have lost absolutely everything. The house will have to be demolished, and she will have to rebuild after being there since the 1940s.
Not just rebuild but get all new belongings because almost everything inside was destroyed in the collapse of the tree: furniture, kitchen appliances, beds, TVs, priceless photos, clothes, computers... everything.
My grandma's bedroom took the brunt, so unfortunately, she cannot salvage anything out of it.
It breaks my heart to see my sweet grandma, at age 92, have to go through something so tragic and be displaced after an already tough year.
This is my attempt to try to get help to make her transition less stressful.
If you're able to help, anything is appreciated!
Thank you so much!
