Help Rebuild Jimmie and Carolyn's Home

Jimmie and Carolyn Green, known affectionately by many as Mema and Grandpa Sam, lost their home and all of its contents from a devastating house fire in the early morning of March 23. Foremost, we want to give thanks to God and to the first responders who helped save their lives. Next comes the task of rebuilding Grandpa Sam and Mema’s home and lives. Losing everything in a fire is devastating at any point in a person’s life but rebuilding your life at the ages of 86 and 80 years old is something else entirely. Their entire life’s work and tangible memories were suddenly reduced to ash. While we know that “these are just things”, the reality is at Mema and Grandpa Sam’s age these things will be especially challenging to replace on a fixed income. As Mema and Grandpa Sam’s family, we want to do everything we can to rebuild their home and replace the things to make their lives comfortable in this season of their life.

The purpose of the funds raised by this GoFundMe are to provide the immediate essentials for Mema and Grandpa Sam while their house is being rebuilt and to purchase furniture and other home basics needed to set up a household once a home is rebuilt for them. We are also wanting to use these funds to replace some important things like Mema’s sewing machine, a used vehicle, and their golf cart which they use to get around their yard since their mobility is limited.

Mema and Grandpa Sam’s house was more than just a home, it was a gathering place for the entire family for the last 60+ years. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many children that Mema has babysat over the years all grew up in this home. Mema and Grandpa Sam worked hard over the course of their marriage to build their home, it can never be replaced but we do plan to rebuild a small version of it on the property. Your donations will help us do this by covering the cost of materials needed.
