Big Sky Collective's Studio Robbed — Support the Recovery
Donation protected
On the night of April 15, the unthinkable happened—our band leader Braedon Avants’ private studio, known as the Blue House, was broken into and ransacked. Much was stolen.
Among the stolen items were:
• Microphones: Audio Technica AT4031, two AT2035s, two SM57s, and a Shure SM7B
• Instruments: two acoustic guitars, an electric guitar, a five-string fretless bass, and most painfully, our auxiliary string/guitarist's Alec’s viola, which took him through middle school, high school, college, and his entire adult life
• Electronics: 2012 MacBook Pro, two iPod Touch devices (including a 2014 model)
• Accessories & tools: leather stick bag, Dewalt drill
This wasn’t just gear—it was the creative core of our band, Big Sky Collective. The Blue House was where we wrote, rehearsed, tracked, and dreamed together. It’s where our sound was shaped and our collective creativity took form.
Braedon built this space over years of hard work, and his wife and the band's bassoonist, Shelby Avants, shares in this devastating loss. This studio wasn’t just a solo venture—it was a home for all of us, and a space where our music grew.
Why We Need Your Help
This robbery has halted our progress on our second album, derailing momentum we’d been building for months. We’ve lost essential tools, instruments, and hard drives that supported not just our music, but our livelihoods.
Insurance won’t cover the full extent of the loss. We’re reaching out to our friends, fans, and community to help us recover.
Your support will help us:
• Replace critical stolen gear and instruments
• Reinforce and restore the Blue House studio space
• Resume our second album and future performances
About Big Sky Collective
We are Big Sky Collective, an independent band creating genre-blending music that lives somewhere between cinematic jazz, funk, fusion, and experimental soul. Everything we do—from recording to performing—is built from the ground up by a small team of passionate musicians.
We’ve always believed in doing it ourselves. But this time, we need your help.
Every Contribution Matters
Even a small donation helps bring us closer to rebuilding what was lost. If you can’t give financially, sharing this page or spreading the word is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for standing with us during this time. We’ll rise again—with your help.
