Ko na Mauri Moa!
We are Liz and Tereua, two master’s students working on a research and collaborative visual storytelling project entitled: Becoming te Unaine: Wisdom and Stories of the Resilient Elderly Kiribati Women.
This project is focused on documenting the ancestral wisdom of te Unaine through photography, videography, and audio recordings. These women carry a profound knowledge, orally passed down through generations. Our project aims to create a lasting visual archive and record of these women and their stories, skills, and sacred teachings.
Through this work, we hope to honor the women who have carried these traditions on their backs for generations. This project is both a tribute to the women who came before and a gift to those who may grow up far from the land of their ancestors. We hope this archive will offer future generations a connection to what their grandmothers knew.
We are currently facing a $3,725 funding gap, which we hope to raise by July 7th. That gives us two weeks to meet our goal. We would love your help in funding this significant project!
