Help Poppy talk ❤️

EDIT ( We have now found a new clinic, again still in Mexico, but much cheaper, woohoo! Also they include accommodation in their fee which makes it even cheaper for us. This is why I have lowered the target amount to £10,000. It feels like we are so close now!)

Hi there, my name is Sol and I am Poppy's mum.

Poppy was diagnosed with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) when she was 4 years old. She is now 12 and has come so far, but she still has so far to go to catch up with her peers. She currently attends a special needs school, which is amazing, but Poppy’s progress is still very slow.

Poppy is an amazing young lady who loves life but struggles with many things. She struggles to communicate with those around her which can cause a lot of frustration on her part. Poppy’s talking has improved slightly and very slowly over the years but is still very unclear to most people.

Poppy is very resistant to most daily tasks like, showering, getting dressed, brushing teeth and hair, which causes a lot of melt downs.

We have tried many things through the years to help Poppy, like sound and light therapy, speech and language therapy, physical therapy, special diets, supplements, oxygen therapy to name a few. All have had slight benefits but not enough to help Poppy talk.

Our wish, more than anything, is for Poppy to be able to talk and to do more self care tasks. We would love Poppy to have a more independent life eventually as we can see she craves it. When she is around “age appropriate” peers, it’s almost like you can see the longing in her eyes to be one of them but she doesn’t know how.

We came across stem cell therapy a couple of years ago and have been determined to get her the treatment ever since. We have researched extensively and although there is no guarantee, we feel it is Poppy's best chance at a miracle.

Bone marrow will be extracted from Poppys hip bone by a large needle. It will then be taken to lab where they separate out only the stem cells. These stem cells will then be injected into Poppy’s spinal fluid where they will travel straight to her brain. It is a non invasive procedure and Poppy will be sedated throughout so there is no pain for her. Stem cells have the ability to repair damaged cells and stimulate any that are not working properly. The benefits are many, but a couple are improved communication, improved attention, improved balance and improved self care, all of which would greatly improve Poppy’s quality of life.

We have found an amazing clinic to treat Poppy in Mexico and £17,000 would cover the treatment and travel costs.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for every penny donated.

Ps. We originally had £10,000 but have since found that the clinic we originally had planned is not as good as we thought. We have found a new clinic, still in Mexico but the fee is substantially higher but the results seem to be much better! As we want to give Poppy the best chance possible we have decided to go with the new clinic.
