Dear friends, family, and community,

For nearly thirty years, my parents have called California home. After dedicating their lives to building a beautiful future alongside their children and grandchildren, they now face the heartbreaking reality of having to self deport and return to Mexico. Our father’s work permit has been revoked, and he has been given just 60 days to leave the United States. With no other legal avenues left, we know self deportation is the best decision for their health and safety. It has left our family with heavy hearts, uncertainty, and financial burdens.

Anyone that has known them can testify of how selfless and hardworking they are. They’ve owned businesses and paid taxes even while they couldn’t benefit from it. They’ve taken people when they had nowhere else to go and helped them get up on their feet. They’ve demonstrated what it means to build true community and how to fight for it. They’ve uplifted their voices to advocate for better policies that impact our environment and our immigrant communities. They have been a pillar to the Bloomington community, putting their heart into everything they do. They have truly become an irreplaceable part of the fabric that makes our community so special.

In addition to their dedication to the community, they’ve worked incredibly hard to provide a better future for their three children. Through years of sacrifice, they’ve guided their children to the finish line of higher education. Today, two of their children hold bachelor’s degrees, and one has achieved a master’s degree. This accomplishment is a testament to their resilience, and determination.

We are asking for your support to help our family navigate this transition. Your donation will help cover essential costs for their departure, including travel expenses, legal fees, temporary housing and other costs to ensure that they can return to their country with dignity and the chance to rebuild their life.

Desde hace casi treinta años, mis padres han llamado hogar a California. Después de dedicar sus vidas a construir un hermoso futuro junto a sus hijos y nietos, ahora se enfrentan a la dolorosa realidad de tener que autodeportarse y regresar a México. El permiso de trabajo de nuestro padre ha sido revocado, y le han dado sólo 60 días para salir de los Estados Unidos. Sin más vías legales, sabemos que la autodeportación es la mejor decisión para su salud y seguridad. Ha dejado a nuestra familia con el corazón afligido, con incertidumbre y con dificultades económicas.

Cualquiera que los haya conocido puede dar testimonio de lo generosos y trabajadores que son. Han tenido negocios y han pagado impuestos incluso cuando no podían beneficiarse de ello. Han ayudado a personas que no tenían adónde ir a recuperarse. Han demostrado lo que significa construir una verdadera comunidad y cómo luchar por ella. Han alzado sus voces para defender mejores políticas que afectan a nuestro medio ambiente y a nuestras comunidades de inmigrantes. Han sido un pilar para la comunidad de Bloomington, poniendo su corazón en todo lo que hacen. Realmente se han convertido en una parte irremplazable del tejido que hace que nuestra comunidad sea tan especial.

Además de su dedicación a la comunidad, han trabajado muy duro para ofrecer un futuro mejor a sus tres hijos.Tras años de sacrificio, han guiado a sus hijos hasta la meta de la educación superior. Hoy, dos de sus hijos son bachilleres y uno tiene un título de posgrado. Este logro es un testimonio de su resiliencia y determinación.
