Our names are Nicholas and Catalina Betancourt. We have been married almost five years and have two sons, Levi (3) and Asher (21 months). Oh and we shouldn't forget to mention baby Grace who is due at the end of October. So with all these kids moving around our homes and hearts, why are we seeking adoption? The answer is simple: this baby girl needs our home. Baby Selene is due on Labor Day and her birth mother is struggling with addiction. While it is probable that she will require weeks of special care in the neonatal intensive care unit, it is without any doubt that she will require a lifetime of love. Her birth mother has chosen us due to the long time relationship our families have. Nicholas and she grew up together (building mattress forts, singing silly songs, and even to the dismay of Nick's mom a haircut or two) and while they haven't stayed close in recent years due to drug addiction, our families have. We had a small intimate wedding - family only, but that family included the birth grandma and uncle. So it just made sense that when this child needed a home and we have such a love for children, that she come home to us.

Our first thought when we heard about this child was if she ever needed a home ours was open to her, and we expressed that as early as January, but it was only at the beginning of July that we found out she wanted us to have the baby. With only 7 weeks until the delivery, we are hurrying to get everything done in time. There are papers to sign, a home study to be completed, essentially a nursery for twins to be set up and many, many other things that we haven't even thought of yet. Its a bit overwhelming but we have faith this is the Lord's plan and it will all work out.
