10 months ago, our family was struck with the most devastating news: my dad was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive type of lymphoma. Despite all odds, he fought to give us 10 more beautiful months with him. His strength kept us going and it was if he wasn’t even sick at all. The first thing he did when he got out of his 3 week hospital admission after his diagnosis was change the oil in my mom’s car. He would be outside cutting the grass with his chemo bag on his shoulder. That’s the man he was, a provider and caretaker. Now my mom is left on her own to take care of things after losing her high school sweetheart, and the last thing I want is her to have to worry about funeral costs or medical bills while she goes through this grieving process.
