Dear Friends,
I'm Kimberly Jackson, and I am the Executive Director of Mamma's Hands, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We provide emergency shelter and support services to mothers and children in the greater Seattle, Washington community, and I'm reaching out on behalf of a wonderful mom, Melody Callier. She and her 7 year old son Micah have resided at the House of Hope since August of 2020.
It has been a very tough year, but Melody has never ceased to amaze us with her dedication, love, and commitment to doing whatever it takes to build a healthy new life for herself and her children (her older son is thriving in college and lives independently). Melody recently celebrated her 1 year sobriety birthday, an enormous accomplishment at any time but especially during a pandemic. She is now a sober sponsor, and even helped to start a recovery support meeting at the House of Hope and on Zoom to bring healing and sobriety to other women.
Now, the culmination of what she has worked so hard for has come true-she is on the top of the wait list and next in line for permanent housing for her family! But a prior eviction owing $7,500 stands in the way. Because the permanent apartment is through the same Housing Authority as her eviction, it must be paid off or she will not be approved for the apartment. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS FAMILY'S DREAM OF MOVING FROM HOMELESSNESS TO HOUSED COME TRUE!
I am humbly asking you to please contribute what you can to help raise the funds needed to take care of her eviction. Permanent housing is so scarce for homeless families, and even scarcer now due to the pandemic. I can't fathom Melody losing this incredible opportunity, and if she does it could take months or years before another chance like this comes along.
I know with your support we can make housing happen for this beloved family. If you have questions or would like to talk with me directly please send a private message and I'll get right back to you. I am so grateful for your consideration, and I thank you in advance and on behalf of the Callier family for your gift of hope and love.
With Gratitude,
Kimberly
