Hi, I’m Tegan, a para dressage rider from Bristol with cerebral palsy, proudly representing Jamaica on the international stage.
I am asking for support to help me and my horse Coco make history for Jamaica on the world stage as we work towards the FEI World Equestrian Games in Germany and ultimately the 2028 Summer Paralympics.
Horses have completely changed my life. Living with cerebral palsy means overcoming challenges every single day, but riding gave me something I had never truly felt before. Freedom. Confidence. Purpose. A place where I felt strong, capable, and completely myself.
What started as therapy became my dream.
Today, I am working towards making history in para dressage for Jamaica as a disabled athlete in a sport where diversity and representation are still incredibly limited.
Behind every competition, every early morning, every result, and every milestone is years of sacrifice, determination, and the love and support of my incredible single mum, who has done absolutely everything she can to help me chase this dream. Without her, none of this would be possible.
Alongside us through it all has been my horse, Coco.
Coco is not just my horse. She is my teammate, my safe place, and a huge part of my story. Together we have faced challenges, celebrated achievements, and built a partnership that means more to me than words can explain.
This will likely be i and Coco's last competition together, knowing that makes this journey even more emotional.
Every ride now means everything. Every competition becomes another memory I will hold onto forever. After everything she has given me, I want nothing more than to give her the send off she deserves and continue fighting for our dream together while we still can.
The reality is that equestrian sport is incredibly expensive, especially as a para athlete without major funding support.
Costs include:
• International travel and flights for the team
• Horse transport £8k and care
• Competition fees and stabling £1.3K
• Accommodation (7 days team of 5)
• Coaching and training
• Physio and athlete support
• Veterinary care
• Everyday horse care and upkeep
Travelling internationally to championships in Germany and future qualifiers can cost thousands of pounds each trip, and despite working incredibly hard on and off the horse, I cannot do this alone.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping me and Coco continue competing internationally and chasing our Paralympic dream together.
Even if you are unable to donate, sharing this page and following our journey means more than you could ever know.
I truly believe sport has the power to change lives, challenge perceptions around disability, and inspire people to believe that they belong, no matter their background or circumstances.
Thank you for believing in me, believing in Coco, and believing in this dream.
Tegan
