I'm reaching out because I'm drowning under a massive Duke Energy bill that has been weighing on me for over a year. Before my kids' dad and I split up, the bill was in his name, but he stopped paying it and I wasn't able to shut it off since it wasn't in my name. The only option Duke Energy gave me was to transfer the account to my name, and I didn't realize that meant the entire overdue balance would come with it. By the time I made the switch, the bill had already become overwhelming.

I'm not working right now, and the payment plans they offered were just too much for me to handle, especially since my current bills are so much higher during the summer months. Even before the account was in my name, I struggled to keep up because my kids' dad just wouldn't help. Since taking over, I've applied for help from OVO, Salvation Army, and a local church, and I've called Indiana 211, but I'm still overwhelmed and haven't been able to get the support I need.

Getting help through this fundraiser would mean I could finally catch up on this bill, keep the power on for my family, and focus on other things that need my attention, like caring for my kids and keeping our home together. The stress and fear of something happening because of this bill has been constant, and I just want to be able to breathe again.
