Hello, my name is Angela. I’m a devoted mother fighting a heartbreaking legal battle to return my 3-year-old daughter, Sonja, home to the UK. I’m reaching out at the most difficult moment of my life to ask for your support.
We were living in the UK and Sonja was enrolled in preschool flourishing in an English-speaking environment, making friends and attending dance and karate classes. In July 2025, what I thought was a short visit to Iceland to celebrate my husband’s mother’s birthday, turned into a living nightmare. When it was time to return to our home in England, my husband told me he had filed for divorce (3 weeks prior) and had canceled Sonja and his flights back to UK without my knowledge. My whole world fell apart at that moment, as he prevented me from bringing my daughter home to the UK where she belongs and was the happiest. I’ve been thrust into a complex international legal battle involving a Hague child abduction case (issued from UK to Iceland) to return Sonja home to UK. I never imagined facing this as well as managing a complex Icelandic divorce filing, where all documents are in Icelandic and the system is very different to what we would expect, whilst my husband is an Icelandic attorney.
I am in the fight of my life. I must fight for parental rights for my daughter and now need both an Icelandic attorney and legal representation in England. The legal costs are overwhelming and continue to grow each week. As a mother, I will do everything in my power to protect my child and bring her home — but I can’t do it alone. I am working in London and traveling back and forth to see Sonja. My flights and living costs far exceed my earnings but a job is also critical for the Hague child abduction case. My family and friends around the world have been my life support during this grueling process.
Your donation will help cover:
• Icelandic legal representation
• UK legal fees
• Travel and documentation expenses
• Translation and court filing costs
This battle is urgent and emotionally exhausting, but I remain hopeful that justice will prevail. Any amount you can give — no matter how small — will make a meaningful difference. If you’re not able to donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word.
Please do not post this page on FaceBook, but please feel free to share via private messages or email.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support, your kindness, and for standing with me during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
