
Help us attend & pay for my brother's memorial

My brother Kaleb Riley passed away at the age of 34 very suddenly and very unexpectedly. The cause and exact time of death are unknown to us at this time, but we will know more when we receive his autopsy results.
Those of you who knew Kaleb and I will know how very close we were. Kaleb was my best friend, my confidant, and by far my biggest fan. Losing Kaleb has been the most traumatic thing I have ever experienced, and I am longing to be in Minnesota with our mother and my other siblings, and to help take care of all the arrangements.

My husband is a retired veteran, and I work from home as a seamstress. We made the decision for my husband to stay home last fall so that he can home school our oldest son, as well as take care of all the household duties while I work. This arrangement has worked well for us in our normal lives, but has left us financially unprepared for this devastating situation.
My family and I need to travel 1300 miles to Canby, Minnesota to help plan, pay for, and attend Kaleb's memorial service. Flying is not an option for our 5 person family, which means we need to make the 2600 mile roundtrip by vehicle.
Unfortunately the 2 vehicles we own are not equipped or reliable for such a long journey, and we will need to rent a van to get us there safely and back.
Because we have 3 children ages 2, 8, and 12, we have to travel there over the course of 2 nights and 3 days, and same for the trip home. It's impossible for us to make the 21+ hour journey all at once.
We are working hard to come up with some of the money we need, but are not sure how much or how quickly we can do so with limited resources, and certain things need to be taken care of as soon as possible, so we are asking our friends and family to help us raise money for the following:
-Expenses associated with cremation and memorial service for Kaleb (cost unknown at this time - my research shows the average cost in the US is $3,000 - $4,000)
-Rental Van (Approximately $750-$900 for a minimum of 2 weeks though we may need a little longer)
-Hotel Rooms (Approximately $400)
-Food (Approximately $400)
-Gas (Updated: Approximately $600, The previous amount I listed was only for one way)
We also intend to use any additional money we can raise to create a scholarship fund in honor of Kaleb, and/or donate to an animal shelter in honor of Kaleb's love and compassion for animals.
