Help Maryann Fight Stage 5 Kidney Failure
Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Sierra. My sister Maryann has been sick since she was 10 years old. She has a rare kidney disease called nephrotic syndrome. She originally had a kidney biopsy done, and it was the minimal change disease type (meaning she would grow out of it one day), but sadly she never has, and a few years ago she was told she was more like an FSGS patient (the worst kind to have). She has tried multiple medications, infusions, and had multiple tests. They don't know what caused her to get sick, and they have absolutely no cure for it. It's been years of waiting, hoping, and praying she would go into remission, but sadly that day never came. It's been disappointing, and Maryann has even experienced some depression because nothing ever got better.
Her father left her at a young age before she got sick. When she got sick, she had to stop going to school due to a weak immune system. She took steroids to try to control the disease, which caused her to swell. She was put on a low sodium diet and therefore couldn't eat like a normal kid would.
Fast forward to now, my sister is 24 years old. She is now in stage 5 kidney failure. She will have surgery on May 15th to place a port in her stomach for dialysis, which she will have to travel to Atlanta for classes on how to do dialysis. She will have to be placed on the transplant list until a match is found and it's her turn, unless a donor steps up for her and saves her life. With that being said, all of this costs money. My sister doesn't have the funds because she only works for me part-time watching my kids while I work, and even that won't be possible with some of the care she will need. She is going to need money towards her medical and travel expenses. I work full-time taking care of us and my two kids, and my income goes towards us living. I may even have to be out of work some for all of this.
If anyone would like to make a donation to Maryann, we would greatly appreciate it. If anyone can even step forward and be a kidney donor, we would appreciate that also. Blood type A and O could be matches. Maryann's plan is to get her transplant and start living her life. She hasn't been able to so far, and with your help and generosity, she can! We appreciate anything and everything, and even if you can't donate, please just pray! Thank you!
