My name is Charbel, and I live in Australia. I’m managing this fundraiser for my friend Mahmoud Ghanem and his family in Gaza, at Mahmoud’s request.

Since GoFundMe isn’t available for Mahmoud to set up and manage a campaign directly from Gaza, I’m helping him run the fundraiser from here in Australia. Mahmoud also does not have a bank account that can be connected to the platform.

I will transfer the money raised directly to Mahmoud and his family through available transfer methods such as PayPal, Western Union, or MoneyGram, depending on which option is available and practical at the time.

I’m a friend of Mahmoud Ghanem and have known his family for over a year. Mahmoud asked me to manage this fundraiser on his behalf, collect the donations, and receive the funds in my name.

Once the funds are available, I will transfer them to Mahmoud in Gaza through the available methods he uses, including his Bank of Palestine account, Western Union, or MoneyGram.

The funds are intended to support Mahmoud, his wife Samah, their four daughters, and their families with their essential needs.

I know Mahmoud personally, and I’ve stayed in contact with him and his family and followed what they have been going through. I wanted to help because I know how difficult their situation has become.

My friend Karina, known online as SleepyWogx, will also help share Mahmoud and his family’s daily life on social media. She will help people outside Gaza see what their everyday life looks like and understand why they need support.

Mahmoud’s Story

My name is Mahmoud Ghanem . I’m a husband and a father, and right now my biggest concern is keeping my family safe and getting through each day.

Our home was destroyed, and the place where I worked was destroyed as well. We lost our source of income and the stability we once had. Since then, even basic things have become difficult to afford and find.

We are struggling with food, clean drinking water, medicine, hygiene supplies, and basic shelter. We are living in a tent, and it is extremely difficult to call it a home. It does not protect us properly from the heat, cold, or rain.

I have three daughters who need school fees, school supplies, and other basic educational necessities. Being unable to provide these things for my children is one of the hardest parts of what we are going through.

My mother is also seriously ill and needs heart surgery. She suffers from blocked or narrowed arteries and needs medical care that I cannot afford on my own.

I am also dealing with ongoing urinary and urological problems that require medical follow-up and treatment. With no stable income and the difficult medical situation around us, even getting basic healthcare has become a major challenge.

We started this fundraiser to help us with the things our family needs:

- Food and clean drinking water

- Hygiene and cleaning supplies

- Medicine and essential healthcare

- My mother’s heart treatment and surgery

- Medical care for my own urological problems

- School fees and educational supplies for my three daughters

- A tent and essential shelter supplies

- Materials to repair and improve our shelter

- Other basic needs for our children and family

The support we receive also helps us help people close to us when we can. We have relatives and people around us who are going through very similar circumstances. When we receive enough support to share something with them, we do our best to help.
